A PSA test on blood is the only way to detect prostate cancer at an early stage, when it is otherwise completely asymptomatic. High PSA (limit value above 4 ng/ml) indicates prostatic hyperplasia, prostatitis or prostatic cancer.

The test is performed on the fingertip blood drop with the included lancet.

PSA IN GENERAL

PSA, or prostate-specific antigen, is a protein produced by prostate cells, the concentration of which increases, for example, in the case of prostate hyperplasia and prostate cancer. The PSA test measures the PSA concentration from the blood sample. Prostate hyperplastism, prostatitis and prostate cancer can be difficult to detect, as at an early stage it is asymptomatic.
Regular PSA testing of the prostate can usually detect asymptomatic prostate cancer at an early stage. Experts recommend measuring PSA annually for men aged 50 to 75.
