Intestinal Disease Test: Bleeding in the digestive tract is a sign of intestinal cancer. This test detects bleeding (transferrin and hemoglobin) from human stool samples and is used for screening for colon cancer. Ordinary tests based on hemoglobin do not detect bleeding in the digestive tract, as Hb breaks down through the intestinal tract through the feces. This home delivery test also measures transferbone in addition to Hb, with slow breakdown in the intestine. The test also detects bleeding gastrointestinal bleeding and provides information on the location of the bleeding site in the gastrointestinal tract.

SYMPTOMS OF COLON CANCER Colon cancer may not show symptoms, and often the only sign of colon cancer is invisible blood in the stool, which can only be detected through tests.

Symptoms of colon cancer include abdominal pain, blood in the stool, changes in bowel function, such as an increased need to defecate or a feeling that the bowel does not empty completely, fatigue, and in some cases, unexplained weight loss. In its early stages, colon cancer may go unnoticed because it generally does not cause symptoms.

Colon cancers develop when healthy cells in the bowel tissue turn malignant. Colon cancer is the second most common type of cancer in Finland for both men and women. The most common types of colon cancers are colorectal cancers.

TESTING FOR INTESTINAL DISEASE Standard fecal blood tests based on hemoglobin determination do not detect bleeding in the upper part of the digestive tract because Hb (hemoglobin) breaks down on its way through the intestines to the stool. This easy-to-use fecal blood test measures not only Hb but also transferrin, which breaks down slowly in the intestines. The test thus also detects bleeding from the upper part of the digestive tract and provides information about the location of the bleeding in the digestive tract.

Healthy individuals should not have Hb or transferrin in their stool. Fecal blood testing should not be performed on individuals who suffer from bleeding hemorrhoids or anal fissures, nor less than 3 days after the end of menstrual bleeding. Medication causing ulcers in the digestive tract (aspirin, Primaspan, etc.) should be discontinued 2 days before the test.
