Alpha-PVP test – accurate and rapid drug screening

What is Alpha-PVP?

The substance has been sold as a street drug in forms such as crystalline powder or thin flakes. Use may be associated with significant health risks including severe confusion, aggressive behavior, cardiovascular symptoms, poisoning, and overdose. How does the Alpha-PVP test work?

The Alpha-PVP test detects Alpha-PVP or its metabolites in urine using an immunochromatographic method. It is a screening test that indicates whether the concentration in the sample exceeds the cut-off level of 300 ng/ml.

The test does not measure intoxication level or determine the exact time of use. A positive screening result may be confirmed by laboratory analysis if required. Results are clearly readable within approximately 3–5 minutes.

• collect a urine sample in a clean and dry container
• immerse the test cassette or strip according to the instructions
• wait approximately 3–5 minutes and read the result

Results are interpreted using the two-line method.

• two lines = negative result, Alpha-PVP not detected or below 300 ng/ml
• one line in the control region = positive result, Alpha-PVP above 300 ng/ml
• no control line = invalid test, repeat with a new device

A faint test line is considered a negative result.
