Vaginal infections are common in all age groups of women. During pregnancy, vaginal infections are a danger to both the mother and the fetus.
A normal mildly acidic pH range of 3.8-4.4 is a basic prerequisite for optimal functioning of the body and the ability to protect the vagina from the inflamations caused by pathogenic microbes. More than 4.5 pH in the vagina can lead to a number of gynaecological diseases and symptoms for which prescription medication may be required.
Factors that may change the pH of the vagina:
- Bacterial vaginal inflammation
- Mixed bacteria infection
- Sexually transmitted disease
- Premature fracture of foetal membranes
- Oestrogen deficiency
- Intimate surgical procedures
- Excessive vaginal washing
Product Content
- The product package includes a pH test panel, a sampling stick, instructions for taking a brush sample and conducting the test, and a pH colour map.
- The sample taken from the vagina with a brush is brushed into the pH measurement range of the test collar and the result is read immediately from the pH scale of the colour map.
- If the pH value for a single measurement is not within normal limits, there is no need to worry. If this happens, repeat the measurement after a few hours or the next day. If the pH is not normal even then, then it is worth discussing the measurement with your doctor.
