SYPHILIS TEST
The syphilis test is carried out because Syphilis, or syphilis, is a bacterial sexually transmitted disease that is transmitted by unprotected sexual intercourse. If left untreated, syphilis is a very dangerous disease that can spread to the heart, blood vessels, brain, eyes and bones. In some cases, syphilis can even be deadly. The expectant mother can pass the infection to the fetus. The asymptomatic incubation period of the disease is usually 3-4 weeks. After that, 2/3 will experience visible symptoms. Infectivity is high in the primary and secondary stages of the disease.
Symptoms
Primary syphilis. At the site of infection, usually the penis, labia, vagina, anal thienosis, rectum, or oral mucosa, there is a hard-edged, usually round wound in 3-4 weeks that is not sensitive For one-third, the wound does not develop. The wound heals on its own in a few weeks. Although the development of syphilia may stop after healing of the primary ulcer, the disease must still be treated for possible late complications.

Treatment of syphilis:
How is syphilis infection diagnosed?
Syphilis infection is detected by detecting antibodies to syphilis bacteria in the blood. Infection can be detected by antibody testing 3-4 weeks after infection.
If you suspect that you have been infected with sypnhilis, you should seek examinations and treatment as early as possible, for example, at your own health centre or venereal diseases outpatient clinic.
The testing and treatment of syphilis is free of charge in municipal health care facilities.
How do you treat syphilis?
Daily penicillin injections are usually used to treat syphilia. The length of treatment depends on the stage of the disease. The success of the treatment is ensured during the post-mortation.
In 2019, 246 symphed infections (incidence 4.5/100,000) were detected, which is nearly 60 cases more than in the previous year. Of the cases recorded, 10% were previously treated serological scars, 62% were active cases and 28% had not reported data.
Most infections, 49% of all cases, were reported in the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa. The highest incidence was found in the Hospital District of South Karelia (9.3/100,000).
Seventy-four per cent of the infections were in men. The highest incidences were found in the 25 to 29 and 30 to 34 age groups (9.0/100,000 and 8.8/100,000). The majority of infections, 59%, were found to be of Finnish origin.
