Norovirus test for rapid identification of gastroenteritis outbreaks
Norovirus is a globally common cause of acute gastroenteritis and spreads easily through food, water, surfaces and person-to-person contact. Infection can occur from a very small amount of virus, and symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and abdominal pain often begin suddenly. The disease can spread particularly in schools, healthcare facilities and workplaces.
This CE-marked in vitro diagnostic test enables qualitative detection of norovirus antigens in stool samples using an immunochromatographic method. The test utilises specific antibodies to identify norovirus Genogroup 1 and 2.
